Hey Nachtmensch, I was wondering, what did you do about your front wheel wells after cutting the OEM fender off? I mean, the holes in the front fender that the wheel wells screwed into were cut off with the fender, right?

you're referring to the plastic fender liner correct?

i chucked that out as i did with my S13. there's a few probalems with those:

    • when you go REALLY low, they rub right through and become junk anyway
    • on the AW11 it actually traps leaves, dirt, and most importantly moisture on the fender behind the wheel (reason i have rust on my driver's side fender)
    • it also does the same thing to my 1/4 panels, which is a reason why so many mk1 mr2's have rusted quarter panels

good question though. i never thought to cover that topic :)

I've come to the conclusion mechanics are fascinated by MR cars. they dont quite grasp the concept and think it is a PITA to work on them.

i dont think so, just work from the bottom :)

Oh okay. Do most people just throw away the front plastic fender liners when putting on fender flares? That is definitely true though that junk gets trapped behind them; I cleaned behind my fender liners on my AW about a month ago and there was a huge pile of leaves and stuff there.

i dont know what other people do, but i did. same with my s13. personally i would pull them out even with out flares because it would allow the kinds of stuff that gets trapped to escape and in theory, not rust your fenders. :)

    yes!

    i think i found a coilover solution:

    WRX bottom and top mounts
Miata shock body (damping for a light car, swap front with rear, and vice versa to compensate for the rear engine)
    5kg/mm springs up front
    10kg/mm springs out back

BAM! time to go test fit STANCE shit at touge factory tomorrow! (and go in debt to my bank again)

yesssss! my car needs to be low again.

ok, after talkign with dave, we decided that the best option is to build an AW11 application. so i just need to gather a good amount of people and start R&D on them. hopefully this goes well :)

the R&D process will take 3-5 months or so, so i should have them between January and March if i can get a list of 10 or more people within a month.

    :slap:

ill be buying a pair of Sportwhack 002's in silver. cheapest, best looking, 4x100 in a low offset (16x8 +0) for the rear. i will keep my kosei's up front though.

the eventual plan is Work Equip 01's. but i have a turbo to put on first.

this is 'stage one' as i like to call it. flares, close to flush/cheap wheels, and slammed.

my 'stage two' is; turbo on stock motor, roll cage, seat, more suspension work

'stage three' is where all my body work will come in and restoration of the chassis. i may just replace the chassis and swap everything over to a california car or something.

im trying to do a step process with this car. after i get my wheels i should be looking into a GT wing and front diffuser though. i have some good plans in store for this car :) i cant wait to see them done
