tight fit...couldnt get thermo out


nice heater so i can spend next few days out there


took alot apart and lifted motor off mounts and pulled foward to get to thermostat


while getting it off the mounts we also cracked dizzy cap


ordered new one from Toyota, picked it up next day, then i put it on and went to put motor back in on the mount, we slightly cracked the new one...ugh.
I had it working last time in there, but i dont have $790 for the dizzy relocator at the moment, so i need to make this work.



I ended up pulling the motor out to beat in the firewall some more and while the motors out im going to paint the engine bay white over the next few days before i put the motor back in and while i wait for the new dizzy again from Toyota.

 

ok heres what i got done today..

rebeat the firewall to the point of almost breaking, actually i made a small pinhole thru firewall



decided not to bother painting engine bay white, gave it a nice coat of black after i power washed it and cleaned it up


then took the transmission off, and this is where it gets bad...the motor would of still had to of come out no matter what. The 2 clips that hold the fork to the throwout bearing both fell off...not sure when this happened. I totally forget how they go on... can someone help me out on this???




then it got even worse.... not sure how this one happened but the pilot bearing snapped in half...actually just the inner part did and the side cover came off. I got it out except the outter circle part....its still stuck in there...gotta figure how to get that out.





got the engine on the stand, took clutch, flywheel and wiring harness off to get to things i needed to check and fix


took off the ISCV and cleaned it to see if that would fix my high idle problem i previously had. it didnt seem that dirty tho



heres a better pic of the coolant outlets that go to radiator core capped off, i was told not to loop which i did last time, hopefully that solves the overheating problem


i also cut the back bracket so i can still use it to lift the motor, be4 it had extra hardlines for vacuum lines that wasnt needed and just in the way


i might have some time tomorrow afternoon to work on it a little if not updates again saturday night....its suppose to snow 3-6inches saturday but ill still get work done (^_^)

 

nice work so far hammering the firewall more was probably a good idea so you would stop cracking those distributor caps
