got some work done yest and today, pulled heater core out cause i broke one of the ends off, got that fixed up and put back in already, what a bitch that was...
    ai39.photobucket.com_albums_e161_JDM_Bill_DSC03316.jpg

my harness was sent out to get converted from gts to blacktop so i can run itbs and map

    ai39.photobucket.com_albums_e161_JDM_Bill_DSC00014.jpg
i ordered up a 4wire O2 sensor and dist to coil wire with a set a sparkplugs for a 92 turbo mr2 cause i cant just get that one wire(should be here next thurs), need any electric radiator fan and im also ordering up some nice T3 itb stacks which should all hopefully be here by next friday

got the two ends of the header rewelded by a friend to work on this motor...bolted right up 1st time, so nice

heres the way im doing the radiator hoses, i used aluminum piping. this pic is just a test fit, i want to make it as clean as i can, maybe make a bracket to hold it up from hitting the header

never seen any corolla guys run the coolant pipes over the exhaust manifold. from what i saw they go under the intake. but it's been awhile since i saw some 20v swaps in the ae86 chassis.

build is turning out very nice. get to drive it yet? thats my favorite part of any build. :)

Everything looks great!! I'm a little worried about the rad hoses running over the header too. Maybe use some header wrap on the rad pipes. Or some of that heat sheild tape stuff. Like the Spoon Sports oil pan heat tape. Wow though! I wanna see some daytime pics of the whole car too! props!!!

i got the idea from club4ag's 20v Reference section bc i dont have an extra $1000 for the relocator kit and you have to drill out parts of the inside of the block to make the water flow the other direction and i didnt want to mess my block up
    aclub4ag.com_images_20V_20AE86_20Process_20V_water_kit__small.jpg
(this kit i think lets you use the stock 4ag fan) where the setup im using i have to install an electic fan.
i saw 3 differ cars running that kind of set up on the how to install 20v thread tho.. here they are
    aclub4ag.com_images_20V_20AE86_20Process_DSC00007.JPG
    aclub4ag.com_faq_and_tech_pages_Tech_20Photos_20V_20water_20kit_20moto.jpg aclub4ag.com_images_20V_20AE86_20Process_DSC00582_small.JPG

yes once i finish making adjustments and ect on everything, i plan on wrapping the header, the piping im using is aluminum and is pretty thick.
I plan on test driving it and ect to see if i run into any problems, i will def have to consider that other alt if something goes wrong.

heres the only current pic of it outside during the day, i think it was taken a few weeks ago

congrats. that thing looks sweet. i still kick my wifes ass(not literaly) for not letting me get one. i had a chance to buy 2 gts' for $750.00 each, and we had the money for both and some extra. *sigh* keep the updates rolling though.

dang, thoses were 2 really good deals

    ok UPDATE TIME

so i let it start up the other day for 5 mins, and it almost overheat and the idle was up at 3000rpm
so i did some research and think it could be the thermostat getting stuck. Im hope thats the problem since it seems easy to fix but bad because of its location against the firewall.

im going back out there in a few to check again... more updates again in an hour or so

i tried it today, the lower hose did get a lil hot tho..i think because the header was heating it up?...but the bigger hose on the ISCV( is that a coolant hose?) cause i took that hose off and it was bone dry

1st thing....I want to make sure everything is right before i go taking things fully apart
    in this pic below,
--Does the Coolant IN(one with thermostat) go to the LOWER part of the radiator??
--Does the Coolant Out(one on side of head) go to the UPPER part of radiator??
    ai229.photobucket.com_albums_ee18_4age20v_frontlabelstx4.jpg

    2nd thing....
im also wondering if the way i looped the heater core outlet would cause it not to work...bc in this pic below it shows the coolant temp for the cluster on the bottom(that works on my cluster) but then the actually coolant temp for the ECU is above it, maybe im not getting enough coolant to reach that sensor???
    ai229.photobucket.com_albums_ee18_4age20v_tstatin4.jpg

    3rd thing...bad news ...
i went to try to get the thermostat out to check it and i couldnt....there is no room at all to get the housing off
    ai39.photobucket.com_albums_e161_JDM_Bill_Picture004_1.jpg

so looks like im going to have to unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor up and towards the front of the car to get in there
    ai229.photobucket.com_albums_ee18_4age20v_frontlabelstx4.jpg ai229.photobucket.com_albums_ee18_4age20v_tstatin4.jpg ai39.photobucket.com_albums_e161_JDM_Bill_Picture004_1.jpg

from the thermostat, the coolant travels to the top of the radiator first. cooler coolant comes out the bottom. the theory behind the engineering ot that is that heat rises. it is like that on 99% of cars. so "coolant in" actually is out coolant out of the motor, in the radiator. then "coolant out" is out of the radiator and in the engine.

you will also need to clearance the firewall a bit more if you want to be able to change the thermostat without pulling the engine every time. there is a company (not sure of the name) out there that makes this adapter to make it all easier.

WOW holy crap....i think i have the 2 coolant hoses on backwards

going to check in a few....2 bad no store is open tho to refill the coolant i drained

as for that relocator kit thing for the thermo... i think that kit is like $900
i may upgrade to that down the road...if my current setup doesnt work out for me once i test it out on the road and some drifting
    but thanks for looking out

yeah, sounds like a thermostat. :ermm: the silvertop suses the same one as a 16v 4age (BT does not)

$900 is rediculous for that piece. is spend maybe $100-150 on it
