ok, so i know i need a new one (vacuum relief isnt working, pressure side is). ive been looking on daniel's site (www.shopresponse.com in case you didnt know that) at the radiator caps. my question is this: my car's stock cooling system is designed to operate at 0.9 bar of pressure. i know many hondas operate at 1.1 bar (same with nissans?). so they usually upgrade to a 1.3 bar cap. well, i saw that ARC offers a 1.5 bar cap also. so what is my best bet? 1.3? 1.5? or should i nab a honda 1.1 bar cap? also, can someone confirm that a honda cap (civic, integra, etc) fits a toyota? they look very similar in size and how they seal. i just want to make sure.
well ur best bet would be a 1.3 if ur car runs at 0.9 then thats means after 0.9 lbs of pressure then the cap is made to let pressure out so that means their is some part that will go at 0.95 lbs of pressure so if u were to get that amount of pressure then it will save ur car so if possible get an oem if not then 1.3 would be good. u sad ppl upgrade them well if they upgrade their radiator or have stronger parts in their car which u may have then u can do so but if all is stock or most then u are better off just sticking with what u got. about the honda fitting a toyota idk as u probably know most are just two little wings that go under and secure so i am guessing that they will fit fine but a junkyard would be ur best bet just go and try a honda cap from the yard on a toyota radiator at the yard so u dont have to buy it if it dont fit
i picked up an oem replacement today. i think i still have air in the system (it's a bitch to bleed) because the temp gauge is all over the place thanks to the the air. i was going to get a 1.3 bar cap. the aw11's cooling system is evidently enough to cool a 400hp 4age (as ive seen)
Just get a 1.3 cap, they are specifically designed to help aid in cooling even how slight the difference especially during spirited driving. Plus they aren't very expensive.
