I was wondering if anyone knew why my car would be throwing a maintenance required light. i have a 98 integra gsr with 92,750 miles and it hasn't ever thrown this light since i've had the car, it had about 78,000 on it whenever i bought it. i know that on my '05 civic, every 15,000 miles the maintenance required light would come on and it was just some hoax for honda to get you to come get your car serviced when it didn't need service at all. could this be the same thing??? any help would be appreciated.
Could be due for an oil change. Mine did that sometimes. When was the last time you did the timing belt/water pump?
Still haven't changed the timing belt/water pump, but both are in top shape. It could be the oil, i still have 1800 miles to go before she's due for an oil change, but it has been almost 7 months since the last one(she's not a daily driver). i'll change the oil and see what happens.
get the ECM read by a code scanner there will be a code logged as to why the maintinance required light is on... that or call the honda dealer
there should be a button you press under your dash... its just by mileage dont even worry about it. Turn the car to the on position(car is not started)... and feel under your dash, you should feel this button, press and hold it for about 5 seconds and you should see the light blink... start the car and the light should be off
hey, thanks for that. the light is officially off. you're the man. not only does your car get mass respect from me, but also your knowledge of my car. thanks again.
checked the code a few weeks ago, but nothing showed up, so i figured it was just a mileage reminder. everything is good.
The Maint. light is not going to throw a code all the only reason the light goes on is because of the mileage. It is to get people to get the maintenace done that is required at certain mileages.
