Im going to remove the head today to look at the gasket. And to get to the head bolts i have to remove the cams and was wondering when i put it back togeather if i have to adjust the valves? Im pretty sure i will have to adjust the timing but what about valves?

usually you dont. but check clearances anyway. never hurts. plus hondas are easy to adjust compared to the nissans and toyotas ive worked on so far

when you adjust the timing you are adjusting when the valves open and close you shouldnt have to adjust the valves unless you are taking the valves out. you said you need to remove the cams to take the head off. you running the b18 motor?? i dont see why you would have to remove the cams to remove the head should just unbolt? never saw under the valve cover so i dont know but most of the time they should just come right off.

The bolts are under the cams because its DOHC. On my SOHC accord i didnt have to. I may try to do that this weekend. I need to buy a torque wrench. Do you know if i can rent one from Auto-zone?

i woudnt trust a rented torque wrench. they should be calibrated and taken care of. rented tools rarely are either.

buy a nice craftsmen/snap-on/whatever torque wrench for ~$120. the 20-150ft/lb one should cover everything. maybe not the cam journal cars though. so you may need to buy another one thats 5-50 ft/lb (about another $80-$100)

you can rent one and yes ^^^ very true but just ask and see when it was last checked they should be checked every three months if you use it all the time

I might as well buy one wouldn't hurt to add another tool to the collection. I saw one with a LCD screen for $150. I may splurge and get it.

I haven't looked but I'm guessing my Haynes manual will have the specs in it?

no dont buy the lcd screen one they dont set the torque properly and you may break bolts. buy a good snap on one for the same price or matco tools buy one that has a turnable piece at the bottom they set the torque bar inside to the exact amount and will work wonders for years and years also when you buy a good one like above you can send it to them and they will recalibrate it for you for very little money.
